<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which restrains attachment of dust on a filter and maintains high sucking power. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner is provided with a dust separating section 23 installed on the upstream side of an electric air blower 21 and a dust container 24 in which separated dust is contained. A swirling airflow ventilating flue is installed on the dust separating section 23 for having air containing dust which is introduced from a suction slot 6 flow as a swirling airflow. The electric vacuum cleaner is also provided with a first filter 27a which forms at least a part of the swirling airflow ventilating flue and a space in its outer periphery where the sucking power of the electric vacuum cleaner 21 acts. The first filter 27a is composed of a high-pressure loss percentage range 71 with the ventilating air-pressure loss percentage changed in a certain range and a low-pressure loss percentage range 72 so that the air containing dust smoothly passes along the surface of the swirling airflow ventilating flue in a spiral manner and flows into the dust container 24 below so that the dust is lead to the dust container 24 below on the airflow that whirls all the time without being absorbed by the surface of the filter and the sucking power is maintained.
