IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND IMAGING APPARATUS

A super-resolution operation unit generates a high-resolution image from multiple low-resolution images by reconstruction-based super-resolution processing using a repeated operation.  The super-resolution processing comprises super-resolution unit processing which is repeatedly executed.  The super-resolution operation unit sequentially updates the high-resolution image estimated from the multiple low-resolution images by repeat execution the super-resolution unit processing and outputs the high-resolution image obtained after a predetermined number of updates as a final high-resolution image.  The execution of the super-resolution processing is started while one low-resolution image (301) is being displayed immediately after the multiple low-resolution images are captured.  Thereafter, while the super-resolution unit processing is repeatedly executed, an intermediate high-resolution image (303, 304) obtained at that point in time is displayed, and after the completion of the super-resolution processing, the final super-resolution image (302) is displayed.
