<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system and a control method for the printing system, contributing to power saving by releasing a power-saving mode at more proper timing, and to provide a printer used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: When a terminal control part 11 of a client terminal 10 detects a start of a printer driver, the terminal control part 11 acquires desired acquisition time, and transmits a sleep mode release instruction including the desired acquisition time to a multifunction machine 20. A control part 21 of the multifunction machine 20 calculates scheduled release time from the desired acquisition time and a restoration time of the multifunction machine 20 and records it.
