PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a low cost thermoelectric conversion material principally comprising a half-Heusler compound and exhibiting proper denseness and excelling mass productivity, and to obtain method for producing the material. SOLUTION: A thermoelectric conversion material, principally contains an inter-metallic compound, represented by general formula XYZ (where X, Y and Z represent at least one kind of metallic element, respectively), and contains a glass component which contains boron oxide, silicon oxide and alkaline-earth metal oxides such as Ca, Ba, and the like, in the range of less than 15 vol.% (excluding 0 vol.%). A molding product consisting of mixture powder where a vitreous component is added to the principal component, is embedded in alloy powder having the same composition as that of the principal component and baked under normal pressure.
