PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method for forming a printing pattern directly on a recording medium composed of plastics, etc. using a thermal head without using transfer foils such as an ink ribbon, etc., and the printing method for forming the printing pattern equivalent to a hot stamping method using the thermal head. SOLUTION: The surface state of the recording medium (ribbon for ornamentation 21) is changed with heat generated by heating element of the thermal head 11 through a protective sheet 22, and each dot is formed corresponding to heat of the heating element composed of the recording medium. The printing pattern with a clear border line is formed by giving more heating amount to the dot composing the border line of the printing pattern, and further the printing pattern in which adjoining dots connect each other is formed.
