<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint A which can be easily inserted in the connection of a steel pipe B having a dimensional error in manufacture or undergoing slight deformation, and which enables the steel pipe B to be connected onto an accurately identical axis line by inhibiting the formation of a gap between the steel pipe B and the joint A. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The joint A includes two half cylindrical bodies 1 which are formed by vertically splitting a cylinder in two. The cylinder has a flange plate 2 protrusively provided like a flange in an intermediate position on its outer periphery. A protrusive insertion plate 11 directed toward the other half cylindrical body 1 is protrusively provided at the edge of the one half cylindrical body 1. A receiving recess 12 directed toward the one half cylindrical body 1 is formed at the edge of the other half cylindrical body 1. A dimensional difference is not substantially made between the protrusive insertion plate 11 and the receiving recess 12; and the protrusive insertion plate 11 has a dimension which enables accurate insertion into the receiving recess 12. An axially-extensible pressure implement 3 is arranged between the two half cylindrical bodies 1.
