<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line terminal apparatus capable of detecting disconnection of a telephone machine from the line terminal apparatus body, and capable of emitting alarm sound when the telephone machine is disconnected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A line terminal apparatus has: a pseudo CI circuit 104 that transmits a pseudo CI signal for sounding a telephone machine 103 when an NCU 101 switches connection of a telephone line 112 to the telephone machine 103; and a modem 106 that transmits a tonal signal, and detects electrical state change when transmitting the tonal signal. The pseudo CI circuit 104 transmits the pseudo CI signal when the modem 106 detects the electrical state change, and does not transmit the pseudo CI signal when the modem 106 does not detect the electrical state change.
