PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suture thread with a loop having a tapered surface and a method for producing such a suture thread. SOLUTION: The suture thread has an elongated body including a proximal part and a distal part, where the distal part includes first and second overlapped sections and the loop. A method for using the suture thread with the loop having the tapered surface includes: a step of fixing at least part of the elongated body to the overlapped sections, whose proximal end is tapered, which is a step of providing the suture thread having the elongated body and the loop formed at the distal end of the elongated body; a step of inserting the proximal end of the elongated body into tissue; and a step of pulling the elongated body through the tissue until the tapered overlapped sections are engaged with the tissue.
