PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically shorten an application processing time, and to improve security in application when applying a difference to data on a backup server. SOLUTION: In the backup program for backing up data on a client computer 2 to a backup server 3 in response to the establishment of backup start conditions, a backup program for a client includes extracting a difference based on the comparison of the current backup data with the previous backup data, and transferring the difference to the backup server 3 in such a state that the difference is encrypted, and a backup program for a server includes applying the difference received from the client computer 2 in an encrypted state to the previous backup data stored in the backup server 3 in the encrypted state.
