A control circuit (49) controls and/or regulates a motor vehicle lighting device. A switching element (45) has a semiconductor circuit (51) provided for separating the control circuit from the main power supply. The switching element is controlled depending on the detected input current of main power supply. The semiconductor switch is a transistor i.e. FET such as MOSFET.
