PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution system capable of protecting the copyright of a content by confirming rightfulness of a reception device in a limited reception method.

SOLUTION: This content distribution system 1 is characterized in that confidential information on a predetermined group of reception devices basis generated by an authentication information generator 10 is previously registered in the reception device 60 and a security module 70; and the security module 70 authenticates the reception device 60 by determining the identity of the confidential information and the identity with updated confidential information distributed from a content distribution device 20.
