PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser drive circuit and a laser display having the laser drive circuit for driving a laser diode to emit light at low power consumption. SOLUTION: When a current output line 42-1 is connected with a ground line 44-1 by a current path switch 45-1 in a current supply section 40-1, a current output prevention section 60 prevents, by disconnecting a voltage input line 46-1 by using a voltage input switch 61-1 so that a voltage may not be input to a voltage/current converting section 41-1, the voltage/current converting section 41-1 from generating and outputting the current. Similarly, the current output prevention section 60 prevents, when current supply sections 40-2 to 40-8 are connected with ground lines 44-2 to 44-8, the current from being generated and output. Thus, when none of the current supply circuits 40-1 to 40-8 supplies the current to a laser diode 11r, an unnecessary current is not generated and does not flow to the ground.
