A cylinder head gasket (1) is provided with at least one first seal plate (11) sandwiched between a cylinder head (2) and a cylinder block (3) having cylinder bores (4). The first seal plate (11) is provided with combustion chamber holes (13) formed at positions corresponding to the cylinder bores (4), and also with first full beads (11a) surrounding the combustion chamber holes. First steps (11b) having a squared-C cross-section are provided to the first seal plate (11) so as to be located at positions which are on the outer side of the full beads (11a) and surround the combustion chamber holes. A filling material (21) is placed in a recess in each first step. Because the cylinder head and the cylinder block can be firmly connected to each other with the steps (11b) in between, deformation of the cylinder block due to the pressure of explosion of the engine can be minimized, and this prevents a reduction in the sealing ability of the cylinder head gasket. |
