The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating osteoporosis that contains a mixture of Saururus chinensis and Scutellaria baicalensis extracts as an active ingredient. The mixture of the Saururus chinensis and Scutellaria baicalensis extracts according to the present invention exhibits the composite effects of inhibiting osteoclast differentiation, increasing bone density and bone mass, and making the fine structure of bone tissue compact at the same time. The extract mixture exhibits significantly improved effects due to the synergism as compared to the case wherein Saururus chinensis and Scutellaria baicalensis are individually used, and thus the extract mixture can be widely applied to the fields of medical supplies and health foods for preventing or treating osteoporosis.
