A method of diagnosis or prognosis of wound development, comprising the step of measuring in a sample of nucleic acid for the presence of a polymorphism in a gene selected from the group consisting of the Ferroportin gene and the Transferrin gene. Also provided are methods of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, wound treatment systems and devices and kits for use in such methods.
