Provided are a unit for measuring the longitudinal and lateral widths of a body and a visceral fat measuring instrument wherein the reliability of measurement accuracy can be enhanced.  The unit for measuring the longitudinal and lateral widths of a body comprises a first contact portion (41) which touches the upper surface of the body of a user (5) in a supine position, a second contact portion (42) which touches one side surface of the body, a third contact portion (43) which touches the other side surface of the body, and a section for calculating the longitudinal width and the lateral width of the body based on the height from the upper surface (6) of a bed to the contact position of the first contact portion (41) and the distance between the second contact portion (42) and the third contact portion (43).
