1,220,235. Controlling article feed to, and discharge from, conveyer belt. SERVICE D'EXPLOITATION INDUSTRIELLE DES TABACS ET DES ALLUMETTES. 16 Feb., 1968 [17 Feb., 1967; 28 July, 1967], No. 7605/68. Heading B8A. Entry of articles C1, C2, C3 . . . on to a conveyer belt T from a series of shoots M1, M2, M3 . . . each controlled by a respective pivoting flap 5 is dependent both on the article clearing a photo-electric gate 9, 10, and a signal from a metallic marker 11 on the belt being received by a detector DP. The articles are guided on the conveyer T by guides 6, 7 in the form of burnished thin-walled tubes. There may be two series of markers 21, 22 (Fig. 4) on respective edges of the belt. The markers 21 cooperate only with the outlet control of shoots (M1), (M3), (M5), ... (Fig. 3, not shown) carrying articles A and the markers 22 cooperate only with the alternate shoots which supply articles B. At the downstream end of the belt the markers 21, 22 operate detectors DA or DB respectively to control the positioning of guides 23, 24, and thus discharge the articles A on to a shoot EA and the articles B on to a shoot EB. Detection of the markers 11, 21, 22 may be responsive to the elevation of a marker from its belt surface, its electrical conductivity, its magnetism, or its reflecting power. |
