The jaw 22 for use in a drill chuck having a longitudinal centre axis 30, includes a chuck body with a jaw face 42 formed on an inner surface of the body and a plurality of teeth 44 formed on an outer surface. The jaw face 42 is substantially parallel to the longitudinal centre axis. A ridge (45, figure 7A) depends inwardly from the jaw face toward the longitudinal centre axis. The ridge includes a tool engaging surface 43 that is planar and substantially parallel to the longitudinal center axis. The ridge may have a width of between .020 to .060 inches. |
