Car body shell and method for retrofitting a car body

The shell has a side region (16) arranged between a roof region (14) and a base region. The side region has longitudinal profiles, cross columns, window columns and door columns with functional sections for accommodation of functional elements of different functions. Functions of the functional sections are defined by the profiles and the columns. A part of the profiles and the columns is adjusted for changing the functions of the functional sections. The functional sections accommodate a door module (4) or a window module (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for retrofitting a carbody.
