The present invention provides an apparatus for biologically processing fluid, in particular wastewater, the apparatus comprising two reservoirs contain growth medium for supporting a biofilm thereon, the apparatus further comprising vacuum pumps which are arranged to effect the transfer of fluid between the two reservoirs in order to enable a large number of biological processes to be carried out by the relatively simple apparatus.
