A method of joining rope parts comprises the steps of inserting the rope parts to be joined into a tubular rope clip blank, Fig. 3, having in cross-section a pair of straight parallel sided side walls 5 joined at each end by generally semi-circular end walls 4, inserting the blank between a set of dies, Fig. 2, each having one part cylindrical and one part-conical portion, the length c of the blank being less than the length a of said part-cylindrical portions of the dies by an amount such that when the dies are closed on the blank the blank is formed into a cylindrical-conical shape, Fig. 4 (not shown), in situ upon the rope parts to be joined, and closing the dies. |
