The method involves transmitting a suspending message by a master node (NM) on a bus (B), where the message permits suspending of a secure slave node (NES). A suspension activation message is transmitted by the master node on the bus before transmitting the suspending message. The activation message signals activation of a suspension procedure to the slave node such that the slave node is ready to be suspended and the slave node passes into a suspension state in absence of reception of the suspending message. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a master node for a local interconnection network (2) a secure slave node for a local interconnection network.
