<p>A hollow flywheel 7 has a cavity 11 which is provided with a liquid in use, and which may allow the liquid to drain into a reservoir 21 when not in use. The outer wall of the flywheel cavity 11 may be connected by a hinge 25 and release mechanism 27 which allows rapid release of the water for example if excessive vibration is detected. Releasable panel hatches 28 may also be provided as an additional safety measure. The flywheel may be made from lightweight composite materials.</p> |
