Method for operating a drive train

The method involves connecting a hydraulic unit (8) with a drive by a coupler (15) e.g. magnet coupler, and storing pressure in a storage element (9). Power is supplied to an optional drive during driving of a rail vehicle. Power from the drive reaches the unit during braking. A drive train (1) is operated such that the element is not completely emptied during driving. The pressure is used for driving the unit, during braking, until the unit and side (15.2) of the coupler reaches a preset minimum speed. The coupler is closed and changed in a pump mode of the hydraulic unit. An independent claim is also included for a drive train comprising an optional drive aggregate.
