A continuous sewage filtration plant comprises a rotary screen filter 1 and a sludge distributor 7 which is inclined to the horizontal over the main part of its length and opens substantially tangentially onto the inner surface of the filter screen at a point adjacent the horizontal diameter of the filter. The filter 1 comprises screen 2 secured in grooves 9 by ropes 8 and straps 10. One or more filters 1 may be used in parallel. Water sprayed from nozzles 11 and 13 may be used to intermittently clean distributor 7 and screen 2. The sludge may be discharged from distributor 7 onto the screen 2 at a velocity substantially equal to that of the screen. |
