PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal material for achieving a sufficient extinction ratio even in a communication wavelength band without receiving influence of polarization, and to provide optical components and a display. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the liquid crystal material photopolymerizes a composite material including a mother liquid crystal 3 being a nematic liquid crystal, a photopolymerization monomer aligning the mother liquid crystal 3 at random, a photopolymerization initiator accelerating photopolymerization, and a dichroism pigment 4 reinforcing scattering and absorption in specific wavelength with ultraviolet ray radiation.
