Disclosed is a method for efficiently producing a structure wherein an aromatic polymer is bonded to a base. Also disclosed is such a structure wherein the base is electrically conductive. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a structure, which comprises a step for polycondensing an aromatic compound represented by the formula (I) below in the presence of a polymerization catalyst and a base having a group represented by the formula (II) below. MYnAr—X  (I) (In the formula (I), Ar represents a divalent group composed of an aromatic ring; X represents a halogen atom or the like; Y represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an imino group or the like; n represents 0 or 1; and M represents a hydrogen atom, —B(OQ1)2 (wherein Q1 represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or the like) or the like.) —Ara—(Xa)p  (II) (In the formula (II), Ara represents a group having a valence of (p+1) and composed of an aromatic ring; Xa represents a halogen atom or a monovalent group expressed as —SO3Qa (wherein Qa represents a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon group); p represents an integer not less than 1, and when p is an integer not less than 2, the plurality of Xa's may be the same as or different from each other.)
