In a switch having a pointer movable in response to changes of temperature, fluid pressure or liquid level, the pointer carries a vane acted upon by a jet of fluid which augments any incipient deflection of the pointer. As shown, the pointer A is part of a voltmeter responding to temperature changes and is mounted on an adjusting arm a<SP>1</SP>. The vane B has a knife-edge b which in the mean position of the pointer is opposite a jet C also carried by arm a<SP>1</SP>. Pointer A also carries contacts d arranged to bridge fixed contacts D or D<SP>1</SP> on deflection in the corresponding direction. The jet is supplied by a piston bl controlled by a cam b<SP>3</SP> so as to be applied during, say, 10 seconds in every 30 seconds. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the jet acts vertically downwards on the knife-edge.</p> |
