PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair styling agent that gives a foggy and fluffy hairstyle. SOLUTION: The hair styling agent contains (a) sugar or a sugar derivative and (b) an inorganic salt at a blending mass ratio of (a):(b)=1:1 to 20:1. Preferably, the blending amount of (a) the sugar or sugar derivative is 0.3-10.0 mass%, while the blending amount of (b) the inorganic salt is 3.5-20.0 mass%, and the total blending amount of (a) and (b) is 7-20 mass%.
