<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having a dust box configured to prevent sudden opening of a bottom lid when removed from a vacuum cleaner body while a pressing button provided at a carrying handle of the dust box is erroneously operated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The dust box 6 having the bottom lid 20 for discharging dust at the bottom surface includes the handle 7 provided so as to be turned from a substantially horizontal position as a stored state to a vertical position, the pressing button 18 partially provided at the handle 7, a buckle 22 for locking the bottom lid 20, and a projection 19 for releasing the bottom lid 20 locked by the buckle 22 in association with the pressing button 18. The pressing button 18 is configured to open the bottom lid 20 by the operation of the pressing button 18 in association with the projection 19, only when the handle 7 is turned to the vertical position as a falling state. Even if the pressing button 18 is operated in the stored state of the handle 7, the bottom lid 20 is not opened, so that when removing the dust box 6, the bottom lid 20 is prevented from opening wide and scattering the dust, thus providing the convenient vacuum cleaner.
