<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably drive a power supply device even if a fault occurs in a power supply control unit, by using another existing control unit instead of the power supply control unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a method and apparatus for switching control of a power supply device, a first drive signal output from a power supply control unit for controlling the power supply device mounted on a vehicle is monitored. When it is detected that the level of the first drive signal decreases below a preset monitoring range, a backup control unit having the same operating capability as that of the current control unit in a normal state is used for controlling the power supply device.
