Device for holding a lower part of a container in a container processing plant, comprising a support framework (6) provided with a fixed stop (9) for a lateral surface of the lower part of the container and with a shoe (10) mounted to pivot about a substantially horizontal axis between a holding position in which the shoe extends close to the stop to collaborate with the lower part of the container and a disengaged position in which the shoe is retracted to allow the lower part of the container to be introduced into the device and extracted from the device in a direction substantially coplanar with a direction of pressing (F) of the lower part of the container against the stop.
