PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling the number of iteration decoding times are provided to reduce the loss of a coding gain according to channel environment by deciding the number of maximum iteration decoding times according to each data burst. CONSTITUTION: A method for deciding the number of iteration decoding times in a communications system includes the process of confirming at least one data burst for decoding through resource allocation information. The method for deciding the number of iteration decoding times comprises a process of estimating a decoding time for decoding from a first data burst to each data burst according to the number of iteration decoding times. The method for deciding the number of iteration decoding times comprises a process of deciding the number of iteration decoding times for each data burst by comparing the decoding start points between the estimated decoding time and the decoding start point of each data burst. A maximum decoding time(D) is set as same as the time resources allocated in a data burst region.
