<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the carburization rate is low with hydrocarbon gas as carburization gas which has been used in the conventional carburization treatment, and if acetylene gas is used as the carburization gas, the carburization rate is high while acetylene gas is reacted with a component of a high frequency heating coil to generate explosive substance, and the use of acetylene as the carburization gas in the high frequency carburization treatment is not favorable. <P>SOLUTION: In the carburizing method, a workpiece 11 constituted of steel is heated by the induction heating under the atmosphere containing hydrocarbon gas to execute the carburization treatment on a surface of the workpiece 11.
