<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration suppressing agitation of the oil level of oil within an oil pan by reciprocation of a balancer piston and of effectively reducing generation of air bubbles within the oil in an internal combustion engine having a piston type balancer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 10 includes the balancer piston 26 moved opposing to a cylinder piston 14 arranged within a cylinder 12 of the internal combustion engine 10. The internal combustion engine 10 further includes the oil pan 30 arranged below the balancer piston 26 and storing oil circulating in each portion of the internal combustion engine 10. A top 26a of the balancer piston 26 is formed to have a projecting shape toward the oil level 30a of the oil within the oil pan 30.
