<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present the likelihood of an extracted rectangle candidate to a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image processing part 47 detects line segment information in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction from an image and prepares opposite side candidates in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction configuring a rectangle area from the detected line segment information in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. Also, the image processing part 47 prepares a plurality of combinations of the opposite side candidate in the vertical direction and the opposite side candidate in the horizontal direction, and prepares the rectangle area whose vertex is the intersection of the opposite side candidate in the vertical direction and the opposite side candidate in the horizontal direction for each combination as a rectangle candidate S. Then, the image processing part 47 calculates the ratio of the length of a line segment L positioned on the outer periphery of the rectangle candidate S to the length of the outer periphery of the rectangle candidate S as the point of each rectangle candidate S.
