<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more compact piezoelectric actuator. <P>SOLUTION: A piezoelectric actuator is configured to include a piezoelectric body, a driving component that is displaced in an axial direction based on an expanding and contracting motion of the piezoelectric body, and a driven component engaged with the driving component with a predetermined frictional force to be movable. When the driven component moves in the same direction as a polarization direction during a driving time (a-c) of about one cycle and a driving time (c-d) of about half of a cycle in relation to a resonance frequency of the piezoelectric body, the driving time of about one cycle is set to a second driving means, and the driving time of about half of a cycle is set to a first driving means. When the driven component moves in a direction opposite to the polarization direction, the driving time of about one cycle is set to the first driving means, and the driving time of about half of a cycle is set to the second driving means.
