<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite member with a functional peptide fixed thereto. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The composite member with the functional peptide fixed thereto has a substrate and inorganic particles to the surface of which a silane monomer is bonded by dehydration condensation and which is fixed to the surface of the substrate through a chemical bond of the silane monomer with the substrate surface. The functional peptide is fixed to the inorganic particles through covalent bonding of the functional peptide and the silane monomer, and can thereby be firmly held while keeping the specific function of the functional peptide having an antibacterial function or the like. Further, a larger surface area for fixing the functional peptide can be secured by the inorganic particles. In addition, the inorganic particle part can restrain the contact between the functional peptide and an object substance from being hindered by sticking dust or the like.
