PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and easily fill a joint with a fire-retardant backup material while constructing a joint part into a fire-retardant structure with excellent fireproof performance by utilizing the backup material used as an underlayer of a sealing material. SOLUTION: A channel 2 is formed in an elastically deformable backup body 1, which includes a thermally expandable fire-retardant material, in a manner of opening in one place of an outer peripheral surface 3 of the backup body 1 and along the longitudinal direction. The outer peripheral surface of the backup body 1 except the area where the channel 2 is formed is shaped into the profile that is tapered toward the opposite side of the opening side of the channel 2.
