PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner superior in low-temperature releasability, less likely to generate filming, achieving both of low-temperature fixability and heat resistance storability, obtaining high image quality even in long-term use, and having a small particle size and narrow particle size distribution, and to provide a developer and an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: The toner is obtained by reacting a dissolved or dispersion liquid made by dissolving or dispersing in an organic solvent a toner material including a binder resin, a prepolymer including a modified polyester resin, a compound having a moiety capable of reacting with the prepolymer, a colorant, and a releasing agent in an aqueous medium and removing the organic solvent from the obtained dispersion liquid. The difference (Tb-Ta) between the softening point Ta of the binder resin by a 1/2 method and the softening point Tb of the toner by the 1/2 method is equal to or more than 35°C, and the ratio (Tb/Ta) of the Tb to Ta is 1.35 to 2.00.
