PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the amount of EGR gas from being excessively increased and secure torque even when EGR valves installed in an EGR passage are stuck open. SOLUTION: The EGR device of an internal combustion engine includes: an internal combustion engine having a plurality of banks: one or more EGR passages for taking out a part of the exhaust gas from predetermined EGR takeout banks which are a part of the plurality of banks and making the exhaust gas as an EGR gas into an intake passage; the EGR valves installed in the EGR passages, an intake amount control means for controlling the intake amount of each EGR takeout bank; a fault detection means for detecting the opened seizure of each EGR valve; and fault control means for more reducing the sucked amount of the EGR takeout banks which is constituted so as to take out the part of the exhaust gas as the EGR gas by the EGR passages in which the open-seized EGR valves are installed among the EGR takeout banks when the opened seizure of the EGR valves is detected than that when the EGR valves are not stuck open.
