The invention relates to a self-ligating orthodontic bracket (1), of the type formed by a rigid one-piece component, which can be fixed rigidly to a surface of one of the teeth of an individual and can be connected to other brackets by a wire or arch (2) with the appropriate tension, comprising a base (3) with a fixation surface (4) that can be fixed on the surface of a tooth, a seat (5) in the shape of a groove or slot that is able to receive the arch, an opening (6) forming a passage on the front surface (7) of the bracket opposite the fixation surface (4) and permitting access to the slot (5), and means that hold the arch in the groove and are in the form of at least one stub, preferably two stubs (8a, 8b) adjacent to the opening (6) and placed in line with the slot (5), characterized in that the bracket (1) is asymmetrical with respect to its centre axis (9), the general direction of which is perpendicular to the fixation surface (4) and to the front surface (7). |
