PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer a configuration request transmitted from a programmable device to a controller, and to save memory resources by extracting configuration information from a memory subsystem by the controller to transfer the extracted configuration information to the programmable device of the requestor. SOLUTION: A broadcast router includes a plurality of input cards, first and second router matrix cards and a plurality of output cards. A programmable device located on the card requiring configuration issues a configuration request to a main controller which is present with a shared configuration information repository. After a period of time which allows additional programmable devices to request configuration elapses, the main controller polls the programmable devices located on the cards to determine which of the programmable devices have requested configuration and, using the configuration information maintained in the shared configuration information repository, configures each programmable device which have requested configuration.
