<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that: fine dust stuck to a dust collecting portion and remaining after abandoning dust inside the dust collecting portion needs to be swept off with a separately prepared brush or cloth or the like or washed with water since it is difficult to remove it by just hitting the dust collecting portion and work is troublesome. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A vacuum cleaner includes: a cleaner body having an electric blower for generating a cleaning airflow; a cyclone dust collecting device for separating the dust included in the cleaning airflow generated by the electric blower by utilizing centrifugal force and discharging the dust through an opening; a dust collecting box freely detachably provided on at least one of the body and the cyclone dust collecting device, for capturing and storing the dust discharged from the cyclone dust collecting device; and a closing member closing the opening of the cyclone dust collecting device when the dust collecting box is detached. In a state in which the dust collecting box is detached and the opening of the cyclone dust collecting device is closed by the closing member, the cleaner body is operated to suck the dust stuck to the dust collecting box.
