The device has a diaphragm element (1) suspended in a cooling air opening (2) that is provided in a body component (4), and rotatable around a longitudinal axis (A) running through a plane clamped by the diaphragm element. The diaphragm element is actuated by a drive device, where inclination of the diaphragm element plane is adjustable with respect to a plane that is clamped by the cooling air opening. The cooling air flows through the device perpendicular to the plane clamped by the cooling air opening. An independent claim is also included for a method for covering a cooler of a motor vehicle using a cooler covering device.
