The invention relates to a coffin (1) made of two coffin parts, a coffin base (2) and a coffin top (3) for burial or cremation of a dead creature, wherein at least one coffin part is made of a profile body (4) that is substantially box or pan-shaped in cross section and made of one piece from a base surface (6) and two side walls (7), wherein the coffin part can be completed by at least two end parts (5), in that the end parts (5) can be connected to the profile body. A suitable production method therefore is additionally proposed. Using said novel coffin (1), especially with regard to the use of wood substitutes as production material, a low-cost coffin (1) that can be assembled from a few components is proposed, said coffin meeting all technical requirements and comprising an attractive, significant appearance in various design variants. |
