The method involves grinding an upper side (1) of a large sized timber material board i.e. wood fiberboard. The upper side is primed with a water-based primer to form a primer layer. A color layer is imprinted on a lower side (2) of the board. The color and primer layers are dried. A decoration layer is imprinted on the upper side and dried. A cover layer consisting of acid-hardening lacquer is imprinted on the upper side and dried. The board is partitioned into panels. Two side edges (I, II) of each panel is subjected to machine cutting treatment for producing connecting profiles (8, 9). An independent claim is also included for a panel comprising a decoration layer.
