<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording apparatus associated for an electric vehicle battery, which detects a voltage exceeding an upper limit voltage of a battery due to abrupt change in the number of motor revolutions or the like and records data useful for analyzing a cause of battery degradation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The data recording apparatus 10 for an electric vehicle battery is mounted in an electric vehicle including a battery 11, a motor generator MG2 as a motor, an inverter 12, and an output controller 13 that controls motor output. The frequency of exceeding the upper limit voltage of the battery 11 is identified based on information measured for controlling motor output and is recorded in a data recording unit 19. Specifically, a data detection unit 18 configured as part of the output controller 13 detects that the rate of change in the number of revolutions of the motor generator MG2 per unit time has exceeded a predetermined value and records the frequency of exceeding the predetermined value as the frequency of exceeding the upper limit voltage of the battery 11.
