<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hermetic compressor improving reliability and having high efficiency. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the hermetic compressors, a compressive element and an electric element are stored in a hermetic vessel, and a crank shaft driven by the electric element is provided. The compressive element has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating in the cylinder, and the crank shaft and the piston are connected with a connecting rod using a ball joint structure. The piston is made of a sintered material containing iron as a main component and is sealed by steam treatment.
