<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a resin film from being etched except for a desired section, when forming the resin film partitioning adjoining lower electrodes by etching. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An organic layer 30 is deposited on the surface of an intermediate product 1a having a plurality of lower electrodes 8a arranged on its surface to coat the lower electrodes 8a with organic layer 30. An inorganic layer 31 is deposited on the organic layer 30, a resist film 32 is formed on the inorganic layer 31, a portion of the resist layer 32 which overlaps with the lower electrode 8a is removed by exposure/development, the inorganic layer 31 is etched by using the resist layer 32 as a mask, the organic layer 30 is etched by using the resist film 32 and an inorganic bank 14 as a mask to expose the lower electrode 8a, liquid of an organic substance is applied on the lower electrode 8a to form organic electroluminescent layers 8b, 8c on the lower electrode 8a, and upper electrodes 8d are deposited on the electroluminescent layers 8b, 8c and the inorganic layer 31.
